Removing stripped screws can be a frustrating task and even a road block for some. For example, screws from a watergate actuator on a BMW 328i can be challenging, but with the right tools and techniques, it can be done effectively. Here are some steps you can follow:

1. **Use Penetrating Oil**:
– Apply a penetrating oil (like WD-40) to the screws. This can help loosen any rust or debris that might be holding the screws in place.
– Let the oil sit for 10-15 minutes.

2. **Rubber Band Method**:
– Place a wide rubber band over the stripped screw head.
– Press your screwdriver into the rubber band and try to turn the screw. The rubber band can provide extra grip.

3. **Use a Screw Extractor**:
– Select a screw extractor that fits the size of the stripped screw.
– Drill a small hole into the center of the stripped screw using a drill bit that is smaller than the screw extractor.
– Insert the screw extractor into the hole and turn it counterclockwise using a wrench or a T-handle. The screw extractor should bite into the screw and allow you to remove it.

4. **Dremel Method**:
– If the screw head is accessible, use a Dremel tool with a cutting disc to cut a slot into the head of the screw.
– Use a flathead screwdriver to turn the screw out.

5. **Pliers Method**:
– If the screw head is protruding, you can use locking pliers (like Vise-Grips) to grip the screw head and turn it.

6. **Heat**:
– Use a soldering iron or a heat gun to heat the screw for a few minutes. This can expand the metal and make it easier to remove.
– Be cautious with this method to avoid damaging surrounding components.

7. **Reverse Drill Bit**:
– Use a reverse (left-handed) drill bit. As you drill into the screw, the bit’s reverse motion may help to unscrew it.
